This project includes a prefabricated custom atrium staircase in the midtower lobby of a new mixed-use 16-story tower in the Lower East Side neighborhood of New York City. The staircase includes multiple stringer runs hidden under prefabricated unitized tread assemblies bolted together onsite. The system integrates floor to floor veil of steel bars that provide a structural-architectural backdrop to the staircase form. AVRO provided Engineer of Record services including structural system design and detailing of staircase, handrail and support plinth components.
